Pedorthic Definition: A pedorthist is an individual who is trained in the assessment, design, manufacture, fit and modification of foot appliances and footwear for the purposes of alleviating painful or debilitating conditions and providing assistance for abnormalities or limited actions of the lower limb.

  • Assessment through observation of surface anatomy and palpation of the limb, gait analyses, range-of-motion testing, footwear analysis and review of potentially complicated health factors;
  • Casting, manufacturing, fitting and adjusting orthoses;
  • Fitting and modifying standard and orthopaedic footwear;
  • Accommodating/incorporating complementary assistive devices; and,
  • Casting and measuring for custom footwear.
Casting techniques:
All 3-Dimensional: impression foam box, slipper casting with plaster bandages and STS fiberglass socks taken depending on insurance criteria and foot type

Delivery Time:
1week on orthoses, shoes depending if in stock or not (~1wk), custom shoes low-end (2-3 weeks), high-end models (1-2 months including trial fit), splints depending on stock, custom toe spacers 10 min., shoe modifications (1/2 day to 1 week) depending on type of modification and how busy I am
